What makes this different
Named techniques. Not generic tutoring.
Every session teaches a specific named method your child can recall and apply independently — in workshops, in school lessons, and in exams. These are not tips. They are transferable tools.

Definition Method
What RUDE, SHAMPOO and PEE mean: These are our named frameworks — memorable labels that turn abstract techniques into something a nine-year-old can recall at speed. RUDE = Read, Underline, Draw, Evaluate (Maths word problems). SHAMPOO = 7 literary devices for comprehension. PEEL = Point, Evidence, Explain, Link (every English answer). Once learned, children use these automatically — in sessions, in school tests, in entrance exams.
Method over memory
Children who learn a named technique apply it independently. Children who learn content need to be reminded. Techniques transfer. Content fades.
Marks improve in school too
PEEL works in Year 7 English. RUDE works in GCSE Maths. These are not exam-specific — they are habits of thinking that improve marks everywhere.
Max 12 per session
Small enough for every child to receive focused attention — their progress tracked, their gaps noticed, their pace adjusted. Week by week.
Specialist 11+ teaching
Our classes are led by carefully selected tutors with strong 11+ and entrance exam expertise. Every session follows our structured curriculum, with focused teaching designed to build knowledge, technique and confidence.

Inside the sessions
What a typical four-week block looks like
The same two subjects run each week. What changes is the technique, the text, and the difficulty level. By half-term, children have covered every major technique in the programme at least once and are applying them at speed.
| Week | Tuesday — English & Verbal Reasoning | Thursday — Maths & Non-Verbal Reasoning |
|---|---|---|
| WEEK 1 | SHAMPOO applied to an unseen fiction text. 3-part PEEL chains — building the structure before extending it. VR: Definition Method for synonyms and coded sequences under timed conditions. | RUDE on two-step word problems. Bar model and ratio. NVR: Isolate Each Variable on sequences — identifying what changes, what stays fixed, and what the rule is. |
| WEEK 2 | Deep inference — mood, tone, authorial intent using the Inference Ladder. VR: Alphabet Position Method, letter series at speed, GL-format under timed conditions. | STAR for exam-format Maths questions. Geometry and angles. NVR: Column Method introduced for matrix completion — the first time children see this structure clearly laid out. |
| WEEK 3 | 5-part PEE chains on a non-fiction text. SHAMPOO in writing — using the same literary devices in creative output. VR: Analogy types, GL and CEM format. Creative Writing: Show Don't Tell. | Multi-step word problems at speed. Fractions and algebra. NVR: Anchor Face for nets — the technique that removes guesswork from spatial rotation entirely. First timed NVR set. |
| WEEK 4 | Timed comprehension under full paper conditions. VR: mixed GL and CEM question set. Personal error review — children identify their own pattern of mistakes and name the technique to fix it. | Timed Maths under full paper conditions. NVR: 4-step elimination for multiple-choice questions. Personal error review — same approach as Tuesday, subject-specific. |
Creative Writing technique — In the Action Rule, Show Don’t Tell, structured openings — runs through the Tuesday sessions throughout the term alongside the comprehension and reasoning work.

Our Better Marks Commitment
Every child who completes a full term of weekly workshops leaves with named techniques they can apply independently — in school tests, classroom work and entrance exams. If you do not see improvement in your child’s English or Maths work within one full term, we will extend your next pass free. No exceptions. No small print beyond attendance.
Applies to children attending a minimum of 6 sessions per month across a full term. One extension per family. Subject to our assessment of engagement and homework completion.
